How STILLWATER works

Everything about the game in one place: casting, the fight, the fish, gear, what breaks, the leaderboards and the $LURE token. Numbers on this page come straight from the game, so they are always current.

Getting started

  1. Get a Solana wallet. Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. The wallet is your account: it keeps your catches and gear.
  2. Open the game at /play and pick your wallet. On a phone, open the game inside your wallet’s own browser.
  3. Sign the message. Your wallet signs a short text to prove the address is yours. It is not a transaction, costs nothing and cannot move funds.
  4. Fish. You start with a cane rod, cotton line and worms that never run out. Everything else is optional.

Fishing

Cast

Click the water where you want the float, or tap it on a phone. The float flies there and settles. Space casts again to the same spot.

Read the float

After a while the float starts to twitch: a fish is testing the bait. Don’t strike yet. Strike on a twitch and the fish feels you and swims off.

Strike

When the float goes under and STRIKE flashes, you have about 1.3 seconds. Click, press Space or tap STRIKE. Too late and the fish is gone.

The fight

Three meters tell you everything. The hint under them says what the fish is doing right now.

Drag
How hard the spool holds before it gives line. A looser drag lets a running fish take line faster but keeps the load low. A tighter drag slows the fish down but loads the line. If the fish takes line even while it rests, the drag is too loose.
Load
The strain on your tackle, against whichever of rod and line is weaker. Keep it out of the red band. If it stays in the red, something snaps.
Line out
How far away the fish is. If it strips the whole spool, it is gone. Win line back while it rests.

What the fish does

  • Runs. Stop reeling. Cranking against a run does not win line, it only adds load on top of the drag. Let the drag tire the fish.
  • Rests. Reel now. This is where you win line, and when you stop reeling the load drops.
  • Shakes its head. Sharp jolts. Watch the load and don’t crank hard.
  • Jumps. Pike love it. Keep the line tight.

Big fish

Heavy fish are a different game. A fresh catfish or sturgeon barely moves when you reel and comes in only once it is tired. Fish over about 15 kg can take several minutes. The rod bends toward the line with the load, so a deep bend means you are close to the limit.

The fish

Which fish takes the bait and how much it weighs is rolled on the server the moment you strike.

Catch odds by bait

Better bait brings bigger fish more often. The Golden Carp never takes a worm.

Rods and lines

Your break limit is the weaker of your rod and line. Reel speed is how fast you win line back. A fish can weigh more than your line holds: the line only takes the pull, and the drag decides the pull.

Rods

Lines

Bait and groundbait

Better bait brings bites sooner and bigger fish more often. When paid bait runs out, the next cast goes out on worms by itself.

Groundbait

Throw a portion in from the shop. For 15 minutes bites come about 40% sooner and rare fish turn up more often. Portions stack: two portions make half an hour.

Breakage

When the load stays in the red, the weaker part of your tackle breaks.

  • The line snaps if the line is the weaker part. You keep the line, but the bait on the hook is lost: one piece of corn, one boilie. Worms are free.
  • The rod snaps if the rod is weaker than the line. The rod is gone and you are back on the cane rod until you buy another. Before it goes, the rod creaks and shakes: ease the drag.
  • Corn is eaten, one piece on every bite, whether you land the fish or not.

The cane rod, cotton line and worms never break or run out for good.

Floats and rod finishes

Looks only. They change how your float and rod look, never how the fight goes. Bought once, kept for good.

Leaderboards

Each wallet is ranked by its heaviest single fish of the week (from Monday 00:00 UTC) and of the month (from the 1st). See the board on the home page or in the game under Log. Championships, timed tournaments with $LURE prizes from the prize pool, come next.

$LURE

$LURE is the game’s token on Solana. Starter gear is free. Every other item has a fixed price in $LURE that does not follow the chart. Fish never pay out tokens: the game only takes $LURE in.

How a purchase works

  1. Pick an item in the shop and press the price.
  2. The game builds one Solana transaction: the burn and the transfers, nothing else.
  3. You check and sign it in your own wallet. The game never holds your tokens.
  4. The server confirms it on Solana and the item is yours. You pay a small network fee in SOL.

Contract address

Published on the home page and on our X at launch. Anything else claiming to be $LURE isn’t ours.

Fair play

  • The server decides. The fish and its weight are rolled on the server, and every fight is replayed there before it counts.
  • No hunting for rare fish. Drop a fish to fish for a rarer one, and the next bite waits as long as that fight would have taken.
  • Your wallet only signs in. Signing in is a message, not a transaction. Purchases are the only transactions, and you approve each one.
  • Your progress follows you. Sign in with the same wallet on any device.

FAQ

Do I need a crypto wallet to play?

Yes, a Solana wallet: Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. It keeps your catches and gear and pays for gear.

Does signing in cost anything?

No. It is a signed message, not a transaction, and cannot move funds.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Open the game in Phantom’s or Solflare’s in-app browser. It works upright or sideways.

Do I have to buy anything?

No. The cane rod, cotton line and worms are free forever, and you can land real fish and climb the leaderboard with them.

Do prices change with the $LURE price?

No. Every item has a fixed price in $LURE.

Why did my line snap?

The drag was tighter than your line can take, or you kept reeling while the fish ran. Keep the drag well under the line’s strength, stop cranking on runs, and upgrade the weaker of rod and line.

Why can’t I reel in a big fish?

It is still fresh. Let it run on the drag and reel only while it rests. It comes in once it is tired.

The game is slow on my laptop.

Open the settings button next to the sound button and choose Low quality or Battery saver.
